  • Louisiana Oil Spill Solution

The Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded on 20th April in the Gulf of Mexico and the devastating oil spill continued until mid September 2010.

Maricuda MD, David Aitken offered a solution that would seal the well, to Homeland Security  and BP on 6th June. It was clear to the world at the time, that no viable contingencies to stop the devastation were available.

Along with many other professional contributions, Maricuda’s solution was unfortunately ignored. With considerable experience in structural, civil and mechanical engineering, largely within the petro-chem industry, David Aitken welcomes an approach to discuss these Maricuda solutions so that action to avert such global disasters can be taken sooner.

Maricuda are proud of their ability to bring innovation and solutions to global marine engineering. This solution is now one of the many Maricuda patented designs. The Atlantic Challenge project to build an 80 metre ocean-spanning, high-speed trimaran is another such example.

  • Safety at Sea

The team at Maricuda has made considerable progress over the past few months. Strategies, teams, advisers, shipbuilders and designs are all in place to ensure that the marine world, commercial and military, are made aware of the Maricuda portfolio and potential.

‘Safety at Sea’ – is a label that Maricuda stress in all concepts and designs brought to the drawing board. For example, the Atlantic Challenger will employ three new crew and passenger safety designs, four new and patentable designs related to fluid dynamics, stability and motion. The fully manual Maricuda Aquarion Bilge pump will also be installed to ensure the safe and reliable movement of large volumes of fluids both in the bilges and for fuel transfer.

Safety at sea is also acquired by ensuring that safe passage is achieved every nautical mile. Maricuda are helping to refine technologies that enable the seas ahead to be constantly analysed for debris, sunken, but floating obstacles right up to the visible horizon. When travelling at high speeds this information becomes critical.
